Sami Shah wife-Pakistani-Australian stand-up comedian, Sami Shah was born on August 24th, 1978 in Pakistan.
At the University of Virginia in the United States of America, Shah studied English.
He was lured into Islam for a while after the September 11 attacks in 2001, in part as a response to its persecution and in part due to his opposition to the invasion of Iraq.
In 2002, he returned to Pakistan and over time openly adopted atheism after gradually rejecting all other religions.

In 2003, Shah joined Saad Haroon’s comic group BlackFish. The eight comedians performed 50 times in 2003 using a repertoire of characters that they each invented. They also used scripts and improvised theater.
They gave a performance in the UK in 2004 while representing Pakistan as a part of the “Connecting Futures Project” of the British Council.
For the performance in Manchester, Shah co-wrote the original format play We’ve Made Contact, which was partially improvised and somewhat written. He continued to perform with the group until its dissolution in 2006.
On November 13th, 2005, Shah gave his maiden solo performance in Karachi. “Nobody Moves, Nobody Gets Hurt” was the slogan used to generate money for the 2005 earthquake victims.
He performed a 3-4-5 Tour in Pakistan in 2006 alongside other comedians Haroon and Danish Ali.
His 2007 solo performance in Karachi spared no one as he took aim at the mullahs, Pakistani culture, advertising firms, national and international politics, as well as a number of other groups of individuals.
Shah was the host, writer, producer, and director of the news parody television program News Weakly in 2008. It received praise on both a national and international scale over its two seasons on the 24-hour news channel Dawn News.
After being accused of blasphemy after his first stand-up engagement and facing the death penalty, he never again brought up religion when performing in Pakistan, he later claimed that the country’s stringent blasphemy laws had an impact on the topic of his performances.
In 2012, Shah contributed to The Express Tribune as a columnist and wrote for Pakistani publications. His consistent work as a music critic led to his appointment as a judge for the esteemed Lux Style Awards in 2006.
He released his autobiography, I, Migrant: A Comedian’s Journey from Karachi to the Outback, in July 2014. It was shortlisted for both the Russell Prize for Humor Writing and the 2015 New South Wales Premier’s Literary Awards NSW Multicultural Award.
He released Fire Boy, his debut work of young adult fiction, in 2016, and Earth Boy, its follow-up, in 2017.
The Islamic Republic of Australia was released in July 2017. It makes an effort to describe the various sorts of Muslims, who vary in terms of their country of origin, the form of Islam they follow, and personal characteristics, in order to refute the idea that there is a single monolithic entity that represents a typical Muslim in Australia.
Shah researched Pakistan’s political history for a two-part BBC Radio 4 program titled “Sami Shah’s Beginner’s Guide to Pakistan” in 2015.
For ABC Radio National (RN), Shah produced and hosted a five-part series titled “The Islamic Republic of Australia” in July–August 2016 that looked at the place of Islam in modern Australia.
On the Pakistan Lux Style Awards TV Specials from 2006 and 2007 (filmed in Malaysia), Shah was on the jury for music nominees. In 2010, he served as host.
He made an appearance in episodes 3 (M-places) and 18 of the BBC Two TV panel show QI in 2015.
He had an appearance in episode two of season 1 of the Australian sitcom Get Krack!n, which aired on ABC TV in September 2017.
From October 2017, Shah participated on a regular basis as a panelist to discuss movies, television shows, and internet material on the Australian program Screen Time on ABC TV.
