Liam Hemsworth Faces The Aftermath Of Murder In Cut Bank Trailer
Director Matt Shakman’s (TV’s The Good Wife and Fargo) upcoming small-town thriller possesses all of the necessary qualities to gather advance attention. It’s got a quirky indie crime premise, a solid director at the helm, and a starry cast. Does this mean that Cut Bank will deliver the goods? With the film’s release date looming closer, a new trailer has landed (via Yahoo! Movies) that muddies the moral waters of its story…
Recommended VideosShakman makes his feature film debut with the flick, which centers on Dwayne McLaren (Liam Hemsworth); a young auto mechanic and former high school sports star keen to escape his hometown of Cut Bank, Montana. However, his luck takes a turn for the worse when he just so happens to film the apparent murder of a local mailman (Bruce Dern). His discovery kickstarts a series of events that domino into the community.
The above premise sets the tone and establishes the initial story quite nicely, a fact that’s immediately betrayed by the trailer. This is certainly no teaser. But then again, without seeing the complete film it’s hard to gauge what information warrants the ‘spoiler’ tag. You can watch it for yourself above and let us know what you think in the comments.
Co-starring Teresa Palmer, Billy Bob Thornton, John Malkovich, Michael Stuhlbarg and Oliver Platt, Cut Bank arrives on on DirecTV February 26, followed by a theatrical release on April 3.
DWAYNE MCLAREN (Liam Hemsworth, Hunger Games), a high school star athlete recently turned auto mechanic, dreams of getting out of tiny Cut Bank, MT – the coldest town in America – and whisking his pageant-hopeful girlfriend, CASSANDRA (Teresa Palmer), away to the big city. But his plan to do so sets in motion a deadly series of events and thrusts him into a police investigation headed by SHERIFF VOGEL (John Malkovich), the protector of Cut Bank and the closest thing Dwayne has to a father figure. Panic sweeps across the community in mere hours, but things are not what they seem. Cassandra’s father BIG STAN STEELEY (Billy Bob Thornton) is the only one who seems to realize this. However, the damage is already done and the events that unfold change Dwayne’s life – and the life of the town – forever.
