The ensemble cast features Kyle Chandler as football coach Eric Taylor, Connie Britton as his wife, Tami, and Aimee Teegarden as their daughter Julie. Zach Gilford starred as quarterback Matt Saracen and his best friend, Landry Clarke, was played by Jesse Plemons. Taylor Kitsch portrayed running back Tim Riggins, with Adrianne Palicki as Tyra Collette and Minka Kelly as Lyla Garrity.

Friday Night Lights premiered in 2006 on NBC and switched to 101 Network after two seasons. The series ended its run with season 5 in 2011. Chandler earned an Emmy Award for his performance, and the show won a Peabody Award in 2007 for Broadcast Excellence.
